Aftercare Information

To avoid spreading the toxin, refrain from rubbing the injected area and avoid any facial treatments and massage such as microdermabrasion, Hydrofacial or home cleansing brushes for 14 days.

Avoid dental appointments a minimum of 72 hours but please advise your dentist that you have had botox. In cases of lower face botox please allow at least 14 days before dental treatment.

No strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
-
Keep upright for 4 hours — no lying on your front or dropping your head down.
-
Avoid headwear that is tightly fitted across the forehead for 14 days.
-
Reduce excessive alcohol consumption or non - medically necessary blood-thinning medication 24 hours before and after the treatment to prevent bruising.

You should avoid exposing the treated area to intense heat (from the sun, steam rooms/saunas, tanning beds etc.) or manipulation (facials, massages, waxing, facial aesthetic treatments) for 2 weeks post-treatment.

Botulinum Toxin reactions are very rare, however It is normal to experience, bee sting type lumps at the injection points, a slight headache for 24 hours and more commonly, bruising for up to 2 weeks.

If you experience muscle weakness, trouble swallowing, difficulty speaking, difficulty breathing or vision changes seek medical help as this may be a reaction. If in the very unlikely case you do experience a reaction, please inform your practitioner and report these side effects to https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk

Please ensure that you return for your review appointment 14 days after your initial treatment. At this appointment we will review your results. Extra product is not always necessary and is at the discretion of your practitioner. Please see T&C's for further information.

Immediately after the treatment, you might notice some temporary redness, swelling and bruising at or around the injection site. This is common.
-
These effects typically resolve within 2-3 days (although treatments to the lips may result in swelling lasting up to 7 days).
-
A cool compresses (on for 20 minutes per hour) for 4-6 hours post injections can help reduce the redness and swelling and helps to minimize any bruising.
-
The use of Arnica tablets or gel may be useful for bruising.
-
If redness and swelling persist beyond 3 days, becomes worse or is accompanied by other symptoms, such as increased pain or fever, please you should contact us straight away.
-
You should avoid exposing the treated area to intense heat (from the sun, steam rooms/saunas, tanning beds etc.) or manipulation (facials, massages, waxing, facial aesthetic treatments) for 2 weeks post-treatment.

After dermal fillers, you must avoid lasers to the treatment area for 4 weeks

Sometimes, the injection areas can seem overly filled or "lop-sided" while swelling is present. Please allow 21 days for this to settle and for any extra treatment.

If you have had a previous outbreak of facial cold sores, the injection of dermal filler can lead to a recurrence. Cold sore history should be discussed prior to treatment and the use of anti-viral medication prior to injections may be helpful. New cold sore eruptions are also possible, even if you have not experienced an outbreak before.

Make sure you avoid taking aspirin, St John's Wort, high dose vitamin E and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID'S) medications such as Nurofen or ibuprofen, for one week following treatment. These medications may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Avoid exercise and alcohol for 24 hours post treatment.

Avoid make up to the area for 24 hours.

Your skin can be flushed or even bright red when you leave your visit, please be aware that there may be some social downtime.

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be red and flushed with an appearance similar to a moderate sunburn. You may experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch to the area being treated.

Cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser daily and pat dry. Moisturise with a gentle moisturiser. Absolutely avoid the use of retinols and acids for 2 weeks.
-
If you have treatment around your eyes, you may experience micro-bruising lasting for 3-4 days. This can be covered make-up.
-
Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as: Ibuprofen, aspirin or St Johns Wort. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for skin rejuvenation.

Do not exercise for 24-48 hours post procedure to minimize the risk of blistering.
-
Within 48 hours, the majority of the redness you experience after microneedling will go away. Peeling, flaking and breakouts may take a little longer. Although not everyone will experience them, additional side effects from microneedling include pimples (purging), and dry skin.
-
The majority of the visible healing after microneedling takes place in the first couple of days following treatment, however healing and collagen induction will continue beneath the skin’s surface for up to two months.

Leave the dressing strip in place for 30 minutes to an hour.
-
You may have some localised tenderness and swelling in the site that the needle was inserted afterwards, this should usually resolve within 48 hours.
-
You may experience bruising in the site that the venous cannula was inserted. Bruising is common and may take 1-2 weeks to resolve.
-
Keep the area where the cannula was inserted clean afterwards.
-
Avoid bending your arm for 1 hour post blood test, this helps to avoid bruising.
-
Avoid tight or restrictive clothing on the arm for 24 hours
-
If bleeding occurs, apply firm pressure for two minutes with a cotton pad over the needle site.
-
Avoid strenuous use of the arm eg sports or heavy lifting
-
If you have discomfort or swelling of the arm, elevate your arm and place ice over the site for 10 minutes. Rest the arm as much as possible.

• You may have some localised tenderness and swelling in the site that the venous cannula was inserted afterwards, this should usually resolve within 48 hours.
• You may experience bruising in the site that the venous cannula was inserted. Bruising is common and may take 1-2 weeks to resolve.
• Keep the area where the cannula was inserted clean afterwards.
• Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated after treatment for the next 48 hours.
• In the unlikely event of bleeding afterwards from the cannula site, sit quietly and apply firm pressure to the area for 20 minutes. You can use a swab, clean cotton wool pad, a clean towel or flannel. Seek medical attention if bleeding will not stop, this is extremely unlikely.
• You must seek medical attention and contact your practitioner if you experience any signs or symptoms of skin infection after the treatment. Infection can present as hot, red shiny skin, there may be pus formation and you may have a fever or feel generally unwell. Keep the area dry and clean for 48 hours to avoid infection.
• Seek medical attention if you feel unwell following the infusion.
• Seek emergency medical attention in the rare event that you experience any severe allergy signs or features of anaphylaxis after IV infusion treatment. These may include rash, facial swelling and breathing difficulties.

Protect your skin from the sunlight and avoid sunbeds for 4 weeks minimum to ensure you don't create a secondary problem of pigmentation.
-
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and showers for 48 hours
-
Avoid any facial treatments for 2 weeks.
-
Do not exfoliate or use any products containing retinol or other acids for at least 1 week.
-
The peeling may take anywhere from 7-10 days on average or longer depending on internal and external factors such as skin type, age, weather, lifestyle, and hormones. Slight redness and skin sensitivity and flaking can occur as your treatment eliminates dead surface skin cells. Each treatment may vary. Other areas of the body will react differently because your skin has a different texture on your face and scalp than on your chest, back, arms, and legs. The healing process may take longer in those areas.

Your skin may take on a rough, patchy, darkened quality a few days after this treatment. This is normal and expected and it will resolve on its own. The first areas to peel are usually around the nose and mouth, but can begin anywhere. Most people begin peeling on the 3rd or 4th day after treatment. It is also possible to not peel at all. If this occurs, you will still benefit from the treatment because the skin has exfoliated microscopically.

Be aware that pigmentation will appear darker to start as the damaged layers of the skin move up towards the surface.
-
Possible side effects include but are not limited to: mild to extreme redness, temporary tightness, itching, swelling, and dryness of the skin similar to a sunburn or windburn. This will usually subside in 2-3 days.

You may GENTLY apply a cold compress to the treated area(s) as needed for any burning or irritation associated with your treatment.
-
Do use gentle cleansers and moisturisers, ensuring that you pat dry afterwards.
-
Don't pick the flaking skin.

Don't apply make up for 48 hours

If you experience any discomfort afterwards you can take a simple over the counter painkiller such as paracetamol.
